Why was I charged $120 and Turbo Tax is suppose to be free?

Last year was the first year I was charged.  I go ahead & pay considering I’ve been using Turbotax since 2016. Maybe if we purchased the software it would be cheaper?  When you find out let me know!

It appears from your post that you're using TurboTax Deluxe Online.  That's one step "up" from the Free Edition.  There must have been something in your return that required an upgrade to a paid edition.  See the info linked below for why you may need to upgrade.  Additionally, there are other add-on features that you may have included.  If you haven't already e-filed, you may be able to reduce those fees.  The info below also explains how you may be able to do that.
