Submitted a 2023 Federal Ammended return using Desktop version and got an error message saying I needed to check for updates. So I did that.
Now E-file Status says: "Transmission Trouble - Please Try Again
We are unable to detect a succesful transmission for this return.
Select the File tab at the top of your screen to try transmissitting again"
But when I go to the file tab, there is no way to resubmit the federal return.
How do "reset" to get this thing to try again?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Yes, you should be able to select File, then Electronic filing, then File Electronically as shown below.
If that is not an option, respond back and TurboTax can help you further.
Hi @JulieS. Thanks for replying. I don’t see that option to file electronically in that menu.
Note that I am using the desktop version on a Mac.
Have you checked your e-file status again today with any success?
With TurboTax Desktop, follow these steps to check your e-file status:
See this TurboTax help article and this IRS webpage for more information.
See also this help article - some Online users have reported this problem when they have imported large documents.
I’ll check again on Saturday when I return. Last time I checked efile status it showed the error msg listed in my op
I'm still stuck, same as before. See screen shots below. @MonikaK1 @JulieS
Image 1) TurboTax Desktop, on Apple. File menu. >Check E-File status.
(note, no option here to initiate electronic filing)
Then efile status says there was a transmission error, go to file menu.
Image 2) Go to file menu >E-File
Image 3) The only option is to E-file state return. No option to re-initiate e-file for Federal.
--- How can I reset / reinitiate the e-filing of the ammendment to my 2023 federal tax return?
Check to confirm that you followed these procedures:
To amend a tax return that has already been submitted in TurboTax:
Confirm also that you have a good internet connection. Hardwired connections work best.
If you confirmed that all of the procedural steps were followed, you have a good connection, and your original return was fully processed, and you still get the transmission error message, please click here for information to contact TurboTax customer support. In the alternative, you could try contacting Apple support.
I have the same issue on my Home and Business Mac version. Tried filing my amended version for Federal and got the message to install updates. After installing updates, my e-file status is same as yours. I don't want to e-file my state taxes. Support person at Turbotax has logged this as an issue and told me that I'll get an email.
Just to let you know, I followed all the instructions from the agent - Deleted cache and website data for Safari and Chrome. Restarted Machine. Uninstalled Turbotax as per instructions from this page - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/product-delivery/remove-reinstall-turbot...
Restarted Macbook and opened my file. Still same error. Waiting for a resolution.
I was able to get it to work again.
I found an option to "amend a return". And then the next screen asked if I had alrady filed the amended return. I answer "no". It then took me to a screen that said I had to file the federal amdended return by mail. So I said fine. Proceeded to e-file just the state amended return and was able to print the federal return to send it in by mail. Jeesh. Every year I wonder why turbo tax is so non-intuitive, tricky, quirky and difficult.
Same issue. It has been months and turbotax has not released a fix yet. Every year turbotax has various bugs and impacts a lot of people. Their developers need to prioritize this. Paper filing is painful. Fix this for us!
What is the problem you are experiencing?
The exact same problem MT1232 said in the original post
Have you followed all the steps in the posts? It appears from his last post he was able to get it to work.
He was able to paper file, efile still not working
