If you were paid for work as an independent contractor, you probably should have been issued a Form 1099-NEC. Form 1099-MISC was used for this purpose for many years, but Form 1099-NEC was reintroduced in 2020. See here for more information from TurboTax on this topic.
You will report all income received for self-employment / independent contractor work. If you already have a Schedule C for this work, report this income there (under Self-Employment).
If you are saying that the income appears to be duplicated in more than one area of your return, you can preview your return to determine whether this is actually the case or if you are just seeing references to it in more than one area of TurboTax. See here for details. If the income was entered twice, delete the duplicated entry by clicking on the trash can icon that appears next to the Review or Edit button for the item.
Thank you, should i delete the 1099-misc in the personal income/1040 section and leave it in the business section? it is causing my refund to drop by $$$
Yes, delete the 1099-Misc in the Personal Income section and leave it in the Business Section.
Here's more info on Self Employment Income.
